Paso Robles and Wine Country

After living for 4 months on the Central Coast I finally gave Hwy 46 a try. Short fast and sweet describes my ride to Paso Robles from the top of Hwy 46. I didn't want to make the 1,700 foot climb from the coast to the top of the Hwy. I was looking for speed and a relaxing ride not sweat. There was still plenty of climbing to do but nothing like the unrelenting climb from the coast to the top of the grade.

I was a bit disappointed with my top speed of 46mph. I was hoping for more. Maybe it's time to ditch the air catching riding shorts and break out the Lycra for those rides that promise fast downhill runs. Next on my to do list is the ride from the top of Hwy 46 down to Hwy 1 on the coast. I anticipate getting to at least 55mph and possibly break 60 on this steeper section of the 46 that offers long downhill sections to build up speed.

Unloading 1/2 mile before the top of Hwy 46

Quick ride up to the top of Hwy 46. Just enough to warm up the legs before heading down the other side.

Ready to head down. A bit of ocean fog passing over the top of Hwy 46

Grapes and more grapes

Another vineyard

Gates to vineyards everywhere

In Paso Robles with Carrie. After lunch we'll heading back over the grade to Cambria and home.

Harmony and Ice Cream

Finished my ride today in Harmony (Population 18) with a meet up with Carrie and the Ice Cream truck.

But first a ride into Cayucos

Looking out towards Morro Bay. Cayucos is to the left.

Taking a break at the beach in Cayucos before heading back up the coast to Harmony.

Riding the Coast to Cayucos

Another ride along Hwy 1 to Cayucos from our new home in Cambria. I must have at least 20 rides planned out so far. I have a lot of exploring to do along the Central Coast and through wine country.

One mile out from our home and headed south along the Coast Highway (Hwy 1). The uncompromising scenery starts from the moment I exit our driveway.

A shot of Morro Bay. Another ride for another day.

Headed into Cayucos. There is no shortage of cyclists that come this way.

Looking down Ocean Ave. in Cayucos for my meet up with Carrie. I'm trying to figure out which antique store Carrie is at.

Riding Again

I can finally focus on riding again. The move to Cambria is complete and the last bit of trash left from the previous owner of our new abode has now been removed and I can think of riding.

I took a short ride from Cambria along Hwy 1 to Cayucos for a meet up with Carrie.

A quick stop along the coast.

After a short 13 miles from home I'm coming up on the small beach town of Cayucos.

Maybe a little more then a "bit of trash" removed from our new home.

Following the Cones

Today's ride included a couple of miles of riding in the wake of a local 5k. All the runners had finished but the course cones were still out. I took advantage of the coned off street and did a little mindless riding without the worry of traffic.

Back to Normal...Riding Again

A little bit of physical therapy and the right hip is functioning again. Heterotopic Ossification be damned.

End of the ride meet up at the park with Carrie (behind camera) and Betzi (beside me).

A better shot of ma doggie.
