Riding the Coast to Cayucos

Another ride along Hwy 1 to Cayucos from our new home in Cambria. I must have at least 20 rides planned out so far. I have a lot of exploring to do along the Central Coast and through wine country.

 One mile out from our home and headed south along the Coast Highway (Hwy 1). The uncompromising scenery starts from the moment I exit our driveway.

At my usual 7am tea time it's usually just me sitting alone on a mile long stretch of Central Coast beach.

Riding Again

I can finally focus on riding again. The move to Cambria is complete and the last bit of trash left from the previous owner of our new abode has now been removed and I can think of riding.

I took a short ride from Cambria along Hwy 1 to Cayucos for a meet up with Carrie.

After a short 13 miles from home I'm coming up on the small beach town of Cayucos.

ICE Sprint X-Spec

I may be busy getting ready to move to California's Central Coast. But I'm not too busy to shop.

I went to visit Dana at Bent Up Cycles and while there I checked out the ICE Sprint X-Spec. The Central Coast is the arguably one of the most beautiful places ride. Both along the coast and inland through wine country the riding is second to none.  But the roads are a little rougher then what I'm use to in Agoura Hills and neighboring Thousand Oaks. I'm thinking that I may want a suspended trike. The ICE Sprint X-Spec offers a fully suspended ride with minimal loss of performance. 

Once I've had a chance to ride the Central Coast roads on my 700 I'll be able to decide if I should add the X-Spec to my stable. For now check out Byran Ball's  review of the X-Spec at Bent Rider.

Escaping Suburbia

I won't be posting much for the next few weeks as Carrie and I get ready to head North to Cambria California.

We're packing up the house and relocating 3 hours drive time North of the California suburb of Agoura Hills, where we now live, to the Central Coast. Carrie and I will be busy with details and the burden of getting ready to move.  

The move will mean a whole new experience meandering through the wine country of the Central Coast and along Hwy 1. 

In the later part of April I'll be able to start exploring new routes while happily getting lost along the way.

Following the Cones

Today's ride included a couple of miles of riding in the wake of a local 5k. All the runners had finished but the course cones were still out. I took advantage of the coned off street and did a little mindless riding without the worry of traffic.

Back to Normal...Riding Again

A little bit of physical therapy and the right hip is functioning again. Heterotopic Ossification be damned.
